Sketchbook Overview by deadlymike Sketchbook Overview by deadlymike
So I had a bunch of questions in regards to sketchbooks and what works the best.

Honestly I think everyone has their own preference so what I'm posting might not be your forte. Although, hopefully it helps in some way. These are just the small sketchbooks I use when taking a wonderful hike down the underground or in malls.

I made it big so the printing is visible. Feel free to continue asking quesions. Lets keep it going!

Sketches featured in this pic:

Moleskin - Great variety

Hand.Book Journals - Great watercolor sketchbooks

I gotta question for ya.... Why do most artists call them MOLESKIN 's when it is spelled MOLESKINE?

Whoah I always work like this when im making traditional art : D
But I work on my bed. And get paints on the sheets. And then my mom gets pissed.
But wha this is awesome.
how many layers of watercolor could be on one sheet of a moleskine?

lol painting on the bed is serious! Not sure how many layers of water colors can work but I usually use 2 layers and it works fine.

Go for it. Think positive and your hand will loosen up. Practice.

Nice work Mikey!
Super informative.
Soft Pencil and Black Ink look great on Moleskines... the paper has an awesome and specific tooth/texture to it. Love them.
(Although I rarely ever draw unless it is on a canvas)
You da man!

and your 'data' looks suspiciously like... an overgrown beer can?

I have the 8.5x5.25" watercolor moleskine, it's pretty slick! but i don't watercolor that much. ;p maye next time i'll go for the drawing/sketch version.

ahhahh yeah you caught me at the wrong time. Most of the time it's clean. Yeah that 8.5 x 5.25 Moleskin is awesome. It's great if you hate fipping the pages. You can spend a lot of drawing time in that landscape format.

No probs. Well from the ones I have, the HandBook Journals have more pages and I think the watercolor paper is different. Moleskin is definitely more pricey.

That's what I draw with. Something that I'm comfortable with and the color bleeds well with waterscolors.
